Twenty-year-old producer and multi-instrumentalist Oliver Malcolm is combining all of his skills to evolve into his next form: Oliver Malcolm, the artist. The Swedish-born and London-raised star is marching to the beat of his own drum, oozing with effortless cool and putting down steps to pave the way to become your next favourite thing.

Oliver moved to the UK two years after he was born in Sweden in 1999. He began experimenting with DJing at age 13, teaching himself to spin records and bringing his turntables to local bars. It wasn’t long until he dipped into the world of producing, using a cracked version of the Apple software Logic to really turn his dreams into a reality. It was then that Oliver realised his knack for mixing and producing beats and he began to pursue a higher goal with his talents.

When he was 16, Oliver’s family moved to L.A and Oliver really hit the ground running. Searching for DJs and producers to give his loaded USB to, the star was determined to get his foot in L.A.’s door and make his name known. When he wasn’t busy making beats, he was participating in beat battles in the local underground hip hop scene.

By the time he was 19, Oliver had worked up a pretty big contact list after sessions and songs with the likes of G-Eazy, Tinashe, Joey Bada$$, Russ, Carlos Santana and Cee Lo Green. It became clear that his goal had been accomplished and it was time to set a new one. He wanted to write and record his own stuff, not wanting to rely on any collaborators and become a true ‘100%-er.’ And that’s exactly what he did.

Oliver released his wavy debut single ‘Switched Up’ in February of this year. It’s out-of-this-world vibe illustrating the perfect identity for the star. But the road leading up to its release wasn’t so easy. Having had to return from LA, he toughed it out back home in the English countryside. While staying in his sister’s spare laundry room, Oliver would rent a ‘studio’ in the back of a mechanic shop and put all of his effort into producing a chunk of songs. The completed project is due to drop in the middle of the year.

The magnetism of Oliver Malcolm is only just the beginning of how he’ll pull you in. If ‘Switched Up’ can teach you anything, it’s that the young star isn’t confining himself inside any boundaries. With his electric voice and untouchable swagger, Oliver is here to change the game. We all just need to move out of his way.
