Good question! And we have the answers. Jon may have taken a cheeky break from social media over the summer but he’s had plenty of GOOD REASONS (see what we did there?!). IT’S GONNA BE ALRIGHT because he’s only been hard at work creating brand new tracks for you and touring them all over the country! There’s SOMETHING TRUE about the good vibes and infectious tunes that Jon brings to the current music scene and we just can’t get enough. Catch up on all of his antics below!
He’s Been Gigging It Up
Jon has been scaling the country blessing the ears of many lucky gig-goers. From the Galatos basement in Auckland to gracing the lineup of some of New Zealand’s finest summer festivals – Wellington’s Homegrown, Gisborne’s Rhythm and Vines and Hidden Valley in Matakana. If you haven’t seen his live show yet what are you waiting for?!
I think now is also a good time to mention that Netsky (yes, international electro-house legend Netsky) remixed one of Jon’s tracks and got him to come out as a special guest to perform it with him at his Auckland Town Hall show. It was… EPIC!

Spreading The Message of Positivity
Jon hopes to spread the message of “the political power of positivity” through his music – “when we feel a sense of hope for the future, we’re more likely to go out and create real change in the world.” And he’s done just that by playing a few gigs over the last few months which have touched on issues close to his heart – supporting the LGBTQ community at Auckland’s Big Gay Out, playing Solarcity’s Gig For Good celebrating the sun and sustainable hope, and most recently alongside LVJ and Dbldbl for a special DJ set where all proceeds were donated to the victims of the Christchurch terror attack.
He’s Cleaned His Flat Bathroom
You’ve all heard his latest single ‘Good Reasons’ right?! Well, Jon got inspired to write the hook of the song whilst cleaning the bathroom in his Wellington flat – “When I started cleaning, it sparked this inspiration and the melodies started coming. I had to rush to my bedroom and record immediately… I guess I should probably clean my bathroom more often!”
Jon showcases his more vulnerable side on this track as it was written about “that moment when you hit rock bottom, then realizing you’ve gotta make some changes.” With lyrics such as “let go of the past that we thought we knew / welcome in the world that we’ve wanted to / open up the gates and I promise you / we’ll make our way to something better” there’s no doubt that this is another feel-good banger, backed up with flawless beats that make you wanna grab the hands of the person next to you and get up and dance.
The ‘Good Reasons’ Music Video Is Officially Out
As if you need another reason to love Jon, he just released the music video for ‘Good Reasons’ where he puts his wistful dance moves on display for the first time. His natural ability to make anyone smile just by being unapologetically himself is one of his best traits.
