Canadian singer Jessie Reyez hasn’t stopped making magic since her debut in 2016. From earning Platinum and Gold certifications and winning Breakthrough Artist to earning Grammy nominations and being named as the latest addition to Apple’s Up Next list, the star is becoming an unstoppable force in the music scene.

The 1961 song originally recorded by Willie Nelson and Patsy Cline has been covered by many throughout the years, but Reyez’ take on the tune hits a little different. Taking inspiration from directors like Quentin Tarantino and Stanley Kubrick, the video brings out a visual element in the song that’s pretty gruesome and raw. “The lyrics spoke to me in a way where you get stuck loving someone who just is not good for you,” Reyez states in an interview about the song. She definitely nailed that interpretation right on the head.

In what just might be the cutest video to ever grace the Internet, Reyez is surprised by her family arriving at her door to celebrate the star earning her first-ever Grammy nomination. You can practically feel the love and support oozing out of the screen and Reyez looks so genuinely shocked that we can’t help but love her more. As if it were possible!

The Apple Up Next program aims to showcase up and coming stars and help them rise to the top. It’s featured the likes of Billie Eilish, 6lack, Juice WRLD, Dean Lewis, Greta Van Fleet and just recently, our very own Jessie Reyez. To end up on the list is an incredible step to elevate your musical career and we couldn’t be happier to see Reyez featured. (And neither can she, we think).
