Absolute legend and multi-platinum musician Jack Johnson has announced he is releasing a new studio album titled Meet The Moonlight, out June 24th.

This will be Jack’s eighth studio album and first full-length release in five years. It was produced by Blake Mills (Alabama Shakes, Perfume Genius, Jim James) and recorded both in Los Angeles (at Sound City and EastWest) and The Mango Tree (Jack’s studio in Hawaii). If you’re a fan you’ll likely note the artistic differences in this new album compared to previous releases, which is the result of an experimental process in recording the album with the combination of Jack’s stripped back arrangements and enchanting sonic details.
Of the new album, Jack said “When Blake and I first got in touch we’d send each other playlists, and over time we realized we were drawn to music that sounds effortless despite all the effort put into making it,” says Johnson. “After a while we got a language together and I gained a trust in him that allowed me to let go, push outside my comfort zone, and get to a sound I really loved.”
The first single ‘One Step Ahead’ has been released today which you can listen to HERE, and then check out the lyric video below.
Jack will also be putting on a special virtual performance for Earth Day on April 22nd. It will be streamed from Kōkua Learning Farm in Hawaii – a farm that Jack has been working on in between making the new album to help out the local community.
