The most important day of the summer season is just around the corner as we see Laneway Festival return for 2025 – and with one of its most unforgettable lineups of all time. As we see brat summer land in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland this Thursday 6th February, we must remind you all to bring a hat, stay hydrated, and slip slop slap throughout what will be a long day. This year’s Laneway Festival is once again being hosted at Western Springs Stadium, with three performance stages throughout the stadium.
There will be performances by acts for every type of music enthusiast, so get to know some of our artist picks that we think will be highly memorable, special, and worth baking in the sun for.
Clairo
Set time: 5:40PM – 6:35PM | Stage: Never Let It Rest
She is beauty, she is grace, she is a flute-playing donkey-whispering angel: she’s Clairo. With her 2024 third studio album, Charm, Clairo’s current tour stage setup is conversation pit style, with her band members surrounding her in a more intimate sense, seeing her interacting with them throughout her set rather than simply having her band stand behind her in the shadows. Although her stage setup will be more festival appropriate, expect her Laneway set to be enchanting and cozy (if the tranquillity of smelling lavender could be transformed into music, it’d be Clairo’s songs.) You won’t want to miss her performance because you’ll realise you missed out on something magnificent and will get instant FOMO.
Remi Wolf
Set time: 4:00PM – 4:45PM | Stage: Never Let It Rest
A true baddie and one of the coolest rising stars in pop, Remi Wolf is blessing us by bringing her Californian heat and grooves to Laneway this year. Having opened for Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS European tour dates last year and Paramore’s This Is Why Oceania tour dates in 2023, Remi Wolf is not only one to watch but an incredible live performer. With her 2024 sophomore album, Big Ideas, we’re looking forward to hearing many of her new hits, such as ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Toro’, in a live setting. With her husky vocals, groovy tunes, and retro funk, missing Remi Wolf’s set will mean missing out on an absolute blast of a time.
beabadoobee
Set time: 6:40PM – 7:35PM | Stage: Good Better Best
Filipino-English singer-songwriter beabadoobee is one of the most important indie darlings of our generation. She’s for the Fiona Apple lovers, for daydreamers, and her music is always a comfort during break-ups and when you’re falling in love. Her 2024 album, This Is How Tomorrow Moves, is a testament to her growth as an artist since her debut album, Fake It Flowers. beabadoobee can weave between bedroom pop, brit-pop, and rock in the most natural ways. Standout singles of hers include ‘The Perfect Pair’, ‘The Way Things Go’, and the beautiful ‘Glue Song’ which also has a second version featuring Clairo. Missing her Laneway performance will only have you wading in regret.
Olivia Dean
Set time: 3:10PM – 3:55PM | Stage: Good Better Best
Olivia Dean is embracing New Zealand with open arms by not only performing at Laneway Festival, but by also playing a headline show the night before (Wednesday 5th February) at The Powerstation. Hailing from London, Olivia Dean’s sound is a beautiful meeting of neo-soul and pop, as best showcased on her 2023 debut album Messy. Since the release of her first record, Olivia Dean released two new singles in 2024: ‘Time’ and ‘Touching Toes’. Her Laneway Festival debut is sure to bring an immaculate energy which bewitches you with pure bliss – because that’s how her music feels.
Skegss
Set time: 2:20PM – 3:05PM | Stage: Never Let It Rest
The Byron Bay garage rock and surfer duo Skegss are the perfect musical act to experience during a simmering summer’s day. With their humble roots and wild stage presence, Skegss will have the crowd switching between feeling chill and rocking about. Having just released their third studio album Pacific Highway Music last October, Skegss are coming in hot with new material to play for us Kiwis. Skegss songs we recommend checking out are: ‘L.S.D’, ‘High Beaming’, ‘Spring Has Sprung’, and ‘Up In The Clouds’. Having previously played Laneway in 2019, it has been a long time coming for their Laneway return – so make sure you don’t miss out!
2hollis
Set time: 7:20PM – 8:10PM | Stage: Everything Ecstatic
Last year 2hollis self-released his third studio album, Boy, followed by him opening for Atlanta rapper Ken Carson on his The Chaos Tour. With Boy being entirely written and produced by 2hollis himself, the electronic-dance record showcases what a unique talent and vision he holds. Before concluding 2024, 2hollis released two singles, ‘Trauma’ and ‘Gold’, from a currently unannounced body of work. With his electronic rap and witch house sound (similar to acts such as SALEM and Playboi Carti), 2hollis is one to not be missed because his Laneway performance is guaranteed to be an absolute standout.
