No doubt you’re all feline better after discovering the whereabouts of a certain MIA cat. Taylor Swift finally set the record straight about the disappearance of her purr-fect companion Meredith Grey. The OG kitty is safe and sound after the Internet had some questions about why she hadn’t featured on her social media in the last year.
Taylor appeared to have been playing favourites to her newer babies Olivia Benson and Benjamin Button, but it turns out it was only because her first-born is camera shy.

Cradling Benji in her arms in a new video she said, “We’ve been hearing some rumors on the Internet recently. I mean, they’re not about you, Benj, but they’re about your sister. The truth is, Meredith just HATES having her picture taken. She’s just a really private little cat.” And who can blame her? She didn’t exactly sign up for life in the spotlight. Do you think she even realises that Three-time Grammy Album of the Year winner Taylor Swift is her mom? Meredith has fast become a celeb in her own right. So much so in fact, that Swifties are keeping tabs on her social media presence.

The only thing Taylor loves more than her music are her cats. It’s been over a decade since Swift first got Meredith (named after Ellen Pompeo’s character in Grey’s Anatomy). Fast forward to 2021 and she now has three furballs. One more and she’ll be certified as a crazy cat lady. So because Olivia and Benj love a good selfie and get more airtime on Taylor’s Instagram than Mer, we thought we’d make an appreciation post for Taylor’s day one.
Meredith has been there from the very beginning, cementing her status as fan favourite and the MVP of the Itty Bitty Pretty Kitty Committee. She’s helped Taylor with voting for the Academy of Country Music Awards, starred in a music video or two, has her own merch line, and inspired Taylor to take the role of Bombalurina in the film adaptation of Cats (sorry for that reminder).
She’s been around since 2011. Just like we’ve grown up alongside Taylor, we also have with Meredith. Although we may not see her online as much as Olivia and Benjamin, she still reigns supreme in any poll, including this one as voted by more than 20,000 Swifties.
