Troye Sivan’s return to music has been a long time coming, and it’s something we’ve genuinely been begging for (his TikTok was flooded with comments demanding the release of his new single, ‘Rush’, before it dropped). With his third studio album Something to Give Each Other releasing October 13th, we’re bringing you up to speed on what Troye has been up to recently. Between launching a new album cycle, appearing in HBO’s drama series The Idol, and everything in between, the star has been beyond booked and busy.

He released his new single, ‘Rush’

‘Rush’, Troye Sivan’s new heated and hot lead single for his upcoming album was viral before it even released (with help from the K-pop community – but that’s another story). With Troye teasing the song throughout Pride Month, his fans were begging him to drop their newly appointed song of the northern hemisphere’s summer. ‘Rush’ is an upbeat and sensual tune that demands you to take on the dancefloor, your crush, your community – anything that gives your body the rush. The song’s music video, directed by Gordon von Steiner, perfectly encapsulates a summer of freedom, lust, sweat, and a Troye who takes on his desires.

His new album, Something To Give Each Other, is out October 13th!

A new single would’ve been enough to feed us for a while; however, Troye is a man of his word and has announced his third studio album, Something to Give Each Other, will be released on October 13th. Troye himself has stated that this body of work is “my something to give you – a kiss on a dancefloor, a date turned into a weekend, a crush, a winter, a summer. Party after party, after party after after party. Heartbreak, freedom. Community, sisterhood, friendship. All that.” There is still some mystery to the album’s tracklist, but we do know there are production credits from the likes of Max Martin, Oscar Görres, and PC Music’s A. G. Cook.

He acted alongside The Weeknd in HBO’s The Idol

Troye took his acting career to new heights by starring alongside The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp in HBO’s The Idol. The drama series, which has taken the world by storm over the past few months, saw Troye’s character Xander deal with the highs and lows of a fictionalised music industry. Xander is the Creative Director of the show’s lead character Jocelyn (played by Depp). Troye also surprised us with a cover of George Harrison’s ‘My Sweet Lord’ for the season finale.

He was on the cover of Vogue Australia with Lily-Rose Depp

As someone who lives and breathes fashion and is always spotted during various fashion weeks, Troye has now landed himself on the cover of June’s issue of Vogue Australia. Photographed alongside his The Idol co-star Lily-Rose Depp, Troye spoke to the magazine about how his upcoming album is “basically just a collection of different kinds of connections that I’ve had with myself and with other people over the last two and a half years.” Regarding acting, he said: “it will forever be one of those things where, if people will have me, I will dip into it every now and then. And then music is my lifeline.”

He’s also been on the cover of a few other magazines

Besides being on the cover of Vogue Australia, Troye has graced the covers of ES Magazine, Interview Magazine, and V China. His V China photoshoot really stands out because it was shot by the legendary photographer Mario Sorrenti.

He turned 28!

For those of us who have been following his career since he was a YouTuber, seeing Troye turn 28 is amazing – but also strange, because we swear it was only yesterday that he was uploading vlogs and song covers online.

He performed with Charli XCX at Coachella

Troye had a major mainstage moment during Charli XCX’s weekend one performance at this year’s Coachella. His guest appearance during the performance of their hit song ‘1999’ was a complete surprise, and ended up being one of the most iconic moments of the entire festival.

He partied with Taylor, Lana, and Jack

Imagine getting to hang out with not only Taylor Swift, but also Lana Del Rey and Jack Antonoff – ask Troye, he would know! Looking at this photo brings so many thoughts, questions, emotions, and much jealousy.

Modelling and musing for Calvin Klein

As mentioned earlier, Troye loves fashion and has always involved himself within that scene, so it came as no surprise to see him modelling for Calvin Klein’s Pride 2023 campaign.
