BENEE made her debut TV performance

NBD but our girl BENEE just performed on none other than The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and we are supa-proud! Taking to the virtual stage with collaborator Gus Dapperton (and a lil’ cameo from her pups 🥺) together they sang global breakout hit ‘Supalonely’ via the magic of the internet. Casual right?! Just another milestone in her rapid rise to becoming a household name.

 

Lady Gaga’s Chromatica debuted at No. 1

She’s done it again! Congrats to Mother Monster on her sixth #1 album on Billboard’s 200 album chart – the biggest week for any female in 2020 so far. Chromatica also hit #1 here in New Zealand, thanks to all of you 🥰 This follows ‘Rain on Me’ with gal pal Ariana Grande claiming the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 – make sure you take our Chromatica poll if you haven’t already.

 

BLACKPINK has teased a new single set for release this month… 👀

June 26th can’t come soon enough! A post on the band’s social media pages has revealed that the new comeback single (still untitled) will be released at 6pm on 26 June. This comes straight off the back of their highly successful collab ‘Sour Candy’ with Lady Gaga. Highkey there is absolutely no doubt that this is gonna be another BOP.

 

DaBaby’s ‘Rockstar’ rocketed to No. 1 

DaBaby just scored his very first #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with ‘Rockstar’ featuring Roddy Ricch from his latest album Blame It On Baby. He is now the first artist since 2017 to score his first two #1’s in the same year (‘The Box’ hit #1 in January). The track also remains at the top of the New Zealand singles chart for another week. His reaction to the news was priceless – “What’s next? tell me something else I can’t do. 🦍”  We love that for him. 

DaBaby has also just dropped the BLM Remix of the song which references cops abusing their power, PTSD, and reaching the #1 spot on the charts.

Graduation ceremonies all over the world have been canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but luckily we can livestream absolutely anything these days. And it was YouTube who stepped up to plate by holding a virtual Grad ceremony for the Class of 2020. All of your favourite stars from Katy Perry, Billie Eilish, and Shawn Mendes, to Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, BTS, and more all made an appearance. Whether it was an inspiring commencement speech, a performance, or sending well wishes, it was definitely an event that graduates will remember for years to come.

 

The Killers Revised Their Song ‘Land Of The Free’ To Address  The Death Of George Floyd

The Killers shared a powerful new version of their song ‘Land Of The Free’, with new lyrics seeking justice for the horrific death of George Floyd. The track was originally released as a stand-alone single early last year, to tackle a number of issues, including gun control, immigration, and police brutality. Touring guitarist Robert Loud, shared a few thoughts via Instagram, “When Brandon texted me these new lyrics I cried and felt the heart he put into them (…) Let’s ‘break the cycle’ of racism and injustice by starting inside of each of us and those we are close to and also work to spread it out from there until it really is the land of the free.”

 

Elton John teamed up with Surfaces on new track ‘Learn to Fly’

The duo that brought us ‘Sunday Best’ have just dropped their new collaboration with the legendary Elton John, titled ‘Learn to Fly’. Recorded via Zoom during isolation, Surfaces wanted to share an optimistic message in the midst of the global pandemic.💖 On working with Elton they said it was like “winning a Grammy – he was so passionate and driven and we couldn’t have wished for a more effortless collaboration. We hope this song will spread love in a time when the world could really use some and inspire people to open up their hearts.”
